Quinta reunión de los grupos de trabajo sobre APB y art. 8(j) |

La quinta reunión del Grupo especial, de composición abierta, de Trabajo entre sesiones sobre Acceso y Participación en los Beneficios (APB) de la Convención sobre la Diversidad Biológica, comenzó ayer en Montreal y continuará hasta el 12 de octubre de 2007.
Cuando finalice se realizará la quinta reunión del Grupo Especial de composición abierta sobre el Artículo 8(j), del 15 al 19 de octubre en Montreal también. |

Adopción de la Declaración de las Naciones unidas sobre los derechos de los pueblos indígenas |

Jueves 13 de septiembre del 2007 - La Asamblea General de las Naciones unidas adoptó la Declaración de las Naciones Unidas sobre los Derechos de los Pueblos Indígenas a mayoría 144 Estados a favor, 4 votos en contra (Australia, Canadá, Nueva Zelanda y Estados Unidos de América) y 11 abstenciones( Azerbaiján, Bangladesh, Bután, Burundi, Colombia, Georgia, Kenia, Nigeria, La Federación Rusa, Samoa y Ucrania).
La Declaración establece un marco universal de estándares mínimos para la supervivencia, dignidad, bienestar y derechos de los pueblos indígenas del mundo. |

The Commission on Intellectual Property, Trade and Biodiversity of the Continental Network was created in 1996 under the initiative of the indigenous Women of the Americas. CHIRAPAQ, Peru, the National Coordination of Indigenous Women of Panama (CONAMUIP) and Pauktuutit Inuit Women's Association, Canada, are the organizations members of the Commission.
